How it works

Mechanism of action.

A short breakdown of the receptor targets, signaling steps, and cellular effects reported in the peer-reviewed research literature.

01

What it is

The reduced form (GSH) of a tripeptide assembled from glutamate, cysteine and glycine. The glutamate link is an unusual γ-carboxyl bond, which is why the molecule resists ordinary peptidases; the free thiol on the cysteine residue is the reactive site the redox literature concerns itself with.

02

Where it binds

Not a receptor ligand. Published work describes it acting as a substrate and cofactor — principally for the glutathione peroxidase (GPx) and glutathione S-transferase (GST) enzyme families — cycling between reduced (GSH) and oxidized (GSSG) states through glutathione reductase and NADPH.

03

What research reports

In cell-culture and animal research the GSH:GSSG ratio is used as an index of oxidative state. Investigators have documented neutralization of hydrogen peroxide and lipid hydroperoxides, Phase II conjugation of electrophilic substrates, and regeneration of oxidized vitamins C and E.

04

Studied in

Peer-reviewed studies have used it in hepatocyte detoxification models, oxidative-stress and ischemia-reperfusion paradigms, and melanogenesis research examining tyrosinase activity.

Common questions

Frequently asked.

How is the compound shipped?

Orders ship via USPS in plain outer packaging (no product names visible). Most orders process within 1–3 business days after payment clears.

How should the lyophilized vial be stored?

Store lyophilized vials at −20 °C until reconstitution. Once reconstituted with bacteriostatic water, solution is stable at 2–8 °C for approximately 28 days. Protect from repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Where can I verify the batch COA?

Every batch is HPLC-verified and mass-spec confirmed. Batch-specific Certificates of Analysis are published directly on our website — browse the full archive in the COAs, or search by the batch number printed on your vial label.

Do you offer returns or refunds?

Because our products are research chemicals, all sales are final. The single exception is damage in transit — if a vial arrives visibly damaged we will ship a replacement at no additional cost. Contact info@aminovitaresearch.com within 7 days of delivery with photographs and your order number.
